Press conference in Hodeida reviews damage from Zionist targeting of Hodeida port
A press conference was held on Monday in the Hodeida port square regarding the damage caused to the port’s infrastructure as a result of the targeting by Zionist and American aggression.
The conference, organized by the Ministry of Transport and the Red Sea Ports Corporation, featured Deputy Minister of Transport and Public Works Yahya Mohammed al-Sayani, who renewed his condemnation of the repeated targeting of Hodeida port, a civilian facility serving a large segment of Yemenis. He noted that international laws prohibit such attacks.
Al-Sayani emphasized that the targeting of Hodeida port aims to halt operational processes, increase the suffering of citizens, and pressure Yemenis to withdraw their support for the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples in their struggles against American and Zionist aggression.
He pointed out the significant damage to the port’s infrastructure, including the recent destruction of the power station supplying electricity to operational sectors in the port.
Al-Sayani called on the media to expose the crimes of Zionist aggression against civilian facilities in Hodeida, which are vital to citizens’ lives. He appreciated the efforts of the province leadership and the Red Sea Ports Corporation in continuing operations and finding urgent solutions to address the damage.
Hodeida first undersecretary Ahmed al-Bishri reported that the cowardly Israeli enemy targeted Hodeida with 17 raids using highly explosive American-made bombs, resulting in the martyrdom of four individuals and injuries to 49 workers and employees.
He noted that the targeting included four vital service sites: the power stations of Hodeida Port, al-Hali, and Ras Katheeb, as well as fuel tanks at the Ras Issa oil port in al-Salif area.
Al-Bishri confirmed that the electricity service in the province and its surroundings was disrupted due to the damage caused by systematic bombing.
He regarded the blatant aggression against vital service facilities as a desperate attempt to deter the Yemeni people from fulfilling their sacred duty toward the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples.
He stated, “This crime in Hodeida is not the first committed by the Zionist enemy, known for its brutality. The atrocities in Palestine and Lebanon stand as testimony to that.”
Al-Bishri also stressed that the blood shed in the raids will only strengthen the Yemeni people’s determination to resist the enemy until it is defeated.
Zaid Ahmed al-Washli, head of the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation, reviewed the total damage incurred by the corporation’s ports over the past 10 years of aggression and siege.
He explained that the power generation station in Hodeida, consisting of three generators with a capacity of 3 megawatts and 75 kilowatts, was completely destroyed and rendered out of service.
He reaffirmed the commitment to continuing operations and providing services at Hodeida port as planned, considering the attacks on civilian facilities as new war crimes added to the series of crimes committed by the Zionist enemy against the peoples of Yemen, Palestine, and Lebanon.
The officials inspected the damage to the power station, which was targeted by two airstrikes from the Zionist enemy.
They were briefed on the components of the station that were destroyed and learned about the operational capacity and potential handling to restart it after supplying new generators.
