Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs Denies Reports of Negotiation Resumption Amid False Claims
An official source from the Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs has refuted claims made by the Emirati newspaper Al-Bayan and other media outlets regarding the resumption of negotiations.
The source clarified that the reported information is entirely false and emphasized that they have not yet received any proposals for discussions.
Furthermore, it was stressed that any potential agreement is not influenced by the positions of the American and British governments, as Yemen maintains its unwavering support for the Palestinian people in Gaza.
The source highlighted that negotiations with Saudi Arabia are independent of events in Gaza and are not subject to external influences.
Recent reports indicate that the United States has made undisclosed concessions to Yemen’s Supreme Political Council in an attempt to persuade the country to cease its anti-Israel naval operations in the Red Sea. Despite these offers, Yemen has remained resolute in its stance.
According to sources cited by the online news magazine Cradle, Washington proposed several concessions to Ansarallah, including recognizing its legitimacy, in exchange for its neutrality in Israel’s conflict with Gaza. Yemen has openly supported Palestine since the initiation of Israel’s aggressive actions against Gaza last October.
The Yemeni Armed Forces have targeted ships in the Red Sea with ties to Israel or traveling to and from ports in occupied territories as part of their response. However, to dissuade further operations, the Biden administration reportedly made private promises through intermediaries to Ansarallah.
These promises encompass repairing damages, removing foreign forces from Yemeni territories, delisting Ansarullah from the State Department’s ‘terrorism list’, and more, contingent on ceasing support for Gaza.
Additionally, the US offered to reduce the influence of the Saudi-backed Presidential Council and hasten the signing of a roadmap with Riyadh and Abu Dhabi to end aggression against Yemen.
Despite these incentives, Yemen has remained resolute. The US and the United Kingdom have also launched attacks against Yemen to pressure it into halting operations in the Red Sea. Yemen has consistently stated that its maritime operations will only cease when the crimes against Gaza by the Tel Aviv regime end.
