Human Rights Minister meets Director of Protection Department at UNICEF in Sana’a
The Minister of Human Rights in the caretaker government, Ali Hussein Al-Dailami, met today,Monday, with the Director of the Protection Department at UNICEF, William Cooley.
The meeting discussed issues related to children in contact with the law, and the efforts of relevant authorities with the participation of UNICEF in searching for an appropriate mechanism that contributes to the protection of children and their rights by implementing a field trip to verify the ages of the children and taking action before applying court procedures.
In the meeting, Minister Al-Dailami pointed out the importance of raising awareness before delinquency regarding children’s issues in contact with the law, stressing the importance of forming mini-committees within the technical committee to strengthen the children’s justice system in contact with the law to study and follow up on children’s cases on a permanent basis.
The meeting was attended by the Director of Organizations and Civil Society Affairs, Rami Mahfouz Al-Yousifi, the specialist in the Child Protection Department, Samar Noman, the General Coordinator of the Coordination Body for Yemeni Non-Governmental Organizations for the Care of Children’s Rights, Abdo Al-Harazi, the Advisor to the Technical Committee for Children Justice in Contact with the Law, Burkan Al-Aghbari, and the Legal Advisor to the Coordination Body, Dr. Faris Al-Qadiri.
