Insan Organization Condemns Crime of Torture of Citizen Mohammed Mahdi by Transitional Elements in Abyan

Insan Rights and freedoms Organization condemned on Tuesday the torture crime of 50-year-old citizen Mohamed Hassan Abdu Mahdi from Ibb province by militants affiliated with the so-called transitional council in Abyan province.

In a statement , the organization condemned in the strongest terms the brutal crime that killed the victim and recalled the series of killings of travellers by armed elements following the so-called Transitional Council in the southern provinces.

It explained to the local and world public opinion according to information obtained from the victim’s relatives “The citizen Mohammed Mahdi has been working in Shabwa governorate since the 1990s and has relations with figures from Abyan and Shabwa governorates who mediated his release, any suspicion justifying such elements denies the grotesque practice of torture against the victim for a continuous period of three days he died one day after his release as a result of excessive force torture.

It considered the torture and brutal criminality suffered by the victim by those elements were regarded by the human psyche and as criminalized by international instruments and divine laws.

Insan organization held the leadership of the so-called Transitional Council and the security and judicial apparatus in the southern governorates fully responsible.

It demanded the speedy arrest of the perpetrators and their handover to justice so that they receive their deterrent punishment, calling on humanitarian and human rights organizations and United Nations bodies, and in the forefront of the Human Rights Council, to take a serious stance to prevent the series of identity killings against Yemenis and to form a committee to investigate all crimes committed by armed elements affiliated with the Transitional Council.
