Zakat Authority launches distribution of Eid clothing for more 3,000 thalassemia’s children
The General Authority for Zakat on Sunday launched the distribution of Eid clothing for 3,546 children suffering from thalassemia in coordination with the Yemeni Society for Thalassemia Patients, on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.
At the inauguration, Undersecretary of the Zakat Authority for the banking sector Mohammad al-Ayani explained that the distribution of Eid clothing for children suffering thalassemia comes within the framework of the Eid Al-Adha clothing project for the number of six thousand beneficiaries of sick children and orphans in orphanages and shelters, at a total cost of 50 million Y.R.
Al-Ayani stressed the authority’s keenness to achieve the legitimate purposes of the obligatory zakat by spending it in its banks on the weak and the needy as a great pillar of Islam and the participation of the weak and the simple of the joy of Eid.
He pointed out that these projects come as a translation of the directives of the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council to pay attention to the poor and the needy and their close follow-up to the projects and activities of the Zakat Authority, as they touch an important segment of Yemeni society.
For his part, the Director of the Office of Social Affairs in the Capital Sana’a Nasser al-Kaheli appealed to merchants and philanthropists to stand by children with thalassemia, as the association suffers from a shortage of medicines and necessary needs.
