Sana’a Renews Its Demand to Lift Siege on Sana’a International Airport
Sana’a renewed its demands, to lift restrictions on the airport to all destinations and to cancel the inspection committee in Djibouti for ships heading to the port of Hodeidah in order to alleviate the suffering people of Yemen.
The Minister of Transport, Abdulwahhab Al-Durra, stressed the need to quickly open Sana’a International Airport to all destinations to save the people of Yemen who are subjected to looting, killing, cutting off and suffering on the roads.
He reviewed the looting, killing and interruption that travelers are exposed to due to security chaos, the latest of which was the kidnapping of an academic doctor last Thursday.
Minister Al-Durra also called for the necessity to cancel the inspection committee in Djibouti for ships heading to the port of Hodeidah, because of the great losses they cause to merchants, importers and consumers.
Bazarjan, Director the Office of UN Representative, indicated, during the meeting, which was attended by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Abdullah Al-Ansi, and Chargé d’Affairs of Yemeni Airlines, Khalil Jahaf, to importance of opening Sana’a International Airport to multiple destinations to alleviate the suffering people of Yemen.
For his part, the Director General of Air Transport, Dr. Mazen Ghanem Al-Soufi, confirmed that Sana’a Airport is still under siege, and this siege will only be lifted by the full opening of this airport to various destinations.
Al-Sufi told : “Only 6 flights leave Sana’a airport per week, and these flights are not enough, and we want to open the airport completely.” He considered that the closure of Sana’a airport is a war crime, and that the first victim of its closure is the people of Yemen.
He pointed out that the aggression coalition continues to impose a siege on Sana’a airport, and refuses to allow it to operate in a manner that meets the actual need.
He also considered that the coalition of aggression, USA, Britain and France, renewed the closure of Yemeni airspace, indicating its intention to continue imposing the siege on the people of Yemen.
Jabal pointed out that the aggression coalition deliberately closed Sana’a International Airport to deprive the people of Yemen of their legitimate right to travel, which was guaranteed by international laws and agreements in light of the silence of the United Nations.
He called on international organizations and relevant authorities in the field of air transport to take a serious and effective stance to compel the aggression coalition to open the airports of the Republic of Yemen.
