Fisheries Ministry condemns attacks on fishermen on Arabian Sea coasts & Gulf of Aden

The Ministry of Fisheries condemned on Thursday the aggressive campaign by the aggression forces against fishermen, the bulldozing of fisheries and marine life using internationally prohibited tools on the coasts of the Arab Sea and Gulf of Aden.

In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (SABA), the Ministry confirmed that the aggression vessels continued to fish and unfair fish dredge and attack Yemeni fishermen and prevent them from fishing in Yemeni waters in the Gulf of Aden.

It explained that it had received reports from the Fisheries Authority and cooperative associations in the Gulf of Aden that fishermen had been harassed and continued attacks by aggression occupation forces on the pretext of protecting their merchant and oil vessels.

The aim was to allow aggression vessels to contaminate the marine environment and plunder oil and fishery wealth.

It called on the people of the free southern provinces to stand together to expel the occupying Power and protect territorial waters from blatant interventions and attacks that were harmful to fishing and fishermen.

The statement called on the United Nations and the international community to intervene to stop this aggression against fisheries and aquatic, to hold the perpetrators accountable and to compensate the affected fishermen and families.

It confirmed that the Yemeni people would not give up their rights and wealth, and would defend them despite continued aggression and siege.
