Sanaa calls on Saudi Arabia to quickly release female pilgrim “Fikrah Al-Dhobyani”

The Ministry of Human Rights of the Sanaa government condemned on Monday the arrest of the Yemeni female pilgrim, Fikrah Al-Dhobyani, and assaulting her by Saudi police in the Great Mosque of Mecca.

In a statement issued by it, the Ministry demanded the speedy release of Al-Dhobyani and all Yemeni detainees in the prisons of the Saudi regime, and the cessation of the regime’s crimes, violations, and arbitrary arrests against Yemeni men and women residing in the Kingdom’s lands, as well as providing legal protection for them.

The Ministry of Human Rights denounced the harassment and insult that Al-Dhobyani was exposed to by a policewoman in the Great Mosque of Mecca before she was assaulted by a Saudi security officer.

The statement referred to the fact that this act was not the first by the Saudi authorities but rather came after a similar assault against the Yemeni female pilgrim Marwah Al-Sabri last February, considering that a violation of human rights, the sanctity of holy places, morals, and human values.

The Ministry also renewed the call to neutralize sacred sanctities and distance them from politicization and irresponsible practices.
