Parliament congratulates success of detainees’ swap deal

Parliament of the Revolutionary Leadership, the Supreme Political Council, and all employees of the Ministries of Defense, Security and the People’s Committees congratulated the success of the Ramadan detainees’ swap deal, which was one of the fruits of the results of steadfastness in the aggression coalition face for more than eight years.

In a statement issued today, Tuesday, Parliament praised the keenness of the Revolution Leader and the President of the Supreme Political Council to give priority to the public interest and responsible handling of the Omani mediation efforts and the good results that resulted in moving the humanitarian file. At the forefront of which are the steps to swap detainees, leading to the completion of the opening of all Yemeni ports, airports and paying the salaries of state employees from the revenues of Yemeni oil wealth that are being wasted and tampered with by the exiled government.

The Council congratulated all detainees and their families on their safe return after years of separation, suffering and diaspora.

Parliament also thanked and appreciated the efforts of the national delegation, the Prisoners’ Affairs Committee and the Omani mediation for what they had done for the success of the detainees’ swap deal, appreciating the Sultanate of Oman’s stances keen on peace in Yemen, and the brotherly and humanitarian role of the Omani mediation which reflects the originality and nobility of the Omani people and their leadership.

The Council statement expressed the hope that this initiative would be a starting point for dialogue that leads to a comprehensive and just peace that restores security, peace, stability and national sovereignty to Yemen.

The statement stressed the importance of releasing the rest of the detainees on the principle of “all for all” and completing the remaining steps of the humanitarian file.

The Parliament’s statement considered the detainees swap deal, which was sponsored by the United Nations, its envoy to Yemen and supervised by the International Committee of the Red Cross, as an advanced step in the path of negotiation and confidence-building in order to advance the comprehensive and just peace process for Yemen and the region.
