Agricultural Cooperative Union condemns mercenary government’s decision to stop exporting fruits &vegetables
The Agricultural Cooperative Union and its associations condemned the decision of the Minister of Industry and Trade of the mercenary government to stop the export of fruits and vegetables during the holy month of Ramadan, under the justification of providing the local market needs of those crops.
In a statement, the federation confirmed, a copy of which was received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), that such random and ill-considered decisions will cause harm to farmers, exporters and the national economy.
The statement stated that will result in large economic losses, especially since the timing of the implementation of the decision coincided with the peak of the agricultural seasons for those crops in production and export.
The statement warned of the negative effects that will result on farmers, exporters and the national economy, especially since Yemeni exporters have concluded supply contracts for these products with importing merchants in the targeted countries, with specific quantities and periods per week.
The statement considered the issuance of the decision suddenly and unexpectedly as a violation of the agreement of Yemeni exporters and importers, as well as causing the accumulation of shipments of fruits and vegetables prepared in advance for export at both Shehen and Al-Wadea outlets.
The federation called on all relevant authorities to quickly find urgent and quick solutions to the problem, and to work on everything that would stop that disastrous decision, and to avoid the avoidable losses that farmers, exporters and the national economy are exposed to.
