IOM monitors new displacement cases in Marib, Taiz, Shabwa

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) of the United Nations monitored the displacement of more than 1,300 people in Yemen during the past week, the majority of them in Marib province, northeastern Yemen.

The organization stated, in its weekly report issued by the Displacement Tracking Matrix, that there are “219 families representing, 1,314 individuals, who have been displaced at least once during the period between April 2 and April 8.

The report indicated that the displaced families moved to three Yemeni provinces, topped by Marib (161 families who were displaced, all from within the governorate), followed by Taiz (28 families who were displaced from within the province and from Hodeida province), while Shabwa came in third (23 were displaced, most of them from within the province and from Marib).

This brings the total number of displaced persons from January 1 to April 8, 2023, to 2,763 families, representing 16,587 individuals, who have been displaced at least once, according to the organization’s report.
