UN: More than 349 families have been affected by floods in Yemen
The United Nations reported that more than 349 families in Yemen, most of them in displacement sites, were affected by the heavy rains and the accompanying floods during the first quarter of this year.
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) said in a recent report that the Rapid Response Mechanism (RRM) has received reports that more than 349 families consisting of 2,443 individuals, most of whom reside in displacement sites, have been affected by heavy rains and floods in nine Yemeni governorates during the period from January to March 2023.
The report added that the families who suffered from the floods accounted for 12% of the total beneficiaries of the in-kind assistance provided by the Rapid Response Mechanism, which in turn also strengthened its response to help the families affected by the floods, and emergency teams were deployed in 28 directorates within the affected governorates to assess the impact of the floods on their families.
