2 children died due to heavy rains in Taiz
At least two children died as a result of torrential rains in the city of Taiz on Saturday evening, local sources said.
According to the sources, heavy rains which turned into floods caused damage to about 25 houses in separate neighborhoods in the center of Taiz city in a preliminary statistic.
The sources added: “The torrential rains surprised the people in most areas of Taiz Governorate at dawn on Sunday, flooded then inside their homes, especially in the districts of Al-Mudhaffar and Salah.
Many families were affected by flooding in the Haraziyah area of Salah district, the areas of Sina, Al-Baraara and Wadi Al-Qadi in Al-Mudhaffar district. Most of the areas are under the control of the Saudi-led coalition forces.
Families affected by the floods appealed to the concerned authorities to rescue them, but the government loyal to the coalition has not taken any action regarding this disaster.
Taiz governorate and a number of Yemeni governorates have been witnessing heavy rains on the country since the beginning of the second half of the spring season.
