Death toll in Peshawar mosque attack rises to 83
The toll from a mosque blast targeting police in northwestern Pakistan has risen to 83, hospital officials said Tuesday.
Muhammad Asim Khan, a spokesman for Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar, told AFP that more bodies arrived overnight.
According to an earlier toll, 33 people were killed and about 150 others were injured in an explosion during afternoon prayers on Monday, which led to the collapse of part of the building.
According to police, the explosion occurred in the second row of worshippers gathered for prayers, and bomb disposal teams were checking for the possibility that a suicide bomber had carried out the attack.
