Fierce battles take place in Oglidar of Donetsk Region

The advisor to the acting President of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), said heavy fighting has been taking place near Oglidar, and Russian units controlled the eastern and southeastern parts of the city’s suburbs.

“Our forces were stationed in the eastern and southeastern parts of the outskirts of the city of Oglidar. It currently controls the surrounding villages directly connected to the city, and fighting is taking place there in particular, “ he said.

He stressed that what further complicates the storming of the city itself is the presence of a large industrial zone that Ukrainian forces use as fortified sites, as they did in Soledar Salt Mine, and fortified tunnels in the Azovstal complex in Mariupol.

The adviser stressed that there are also some positive factors in the current situation.

“The deployment of enemy soldiers there looks like a patchwork quilt of various colors,” he said. That is, elements of various Ukrainian factions are randomly deployed in the city, and often there is no communication and cooperation between them, which, in principle, is in our favor.”
