Russia’s ambassador in Washington calls on US media to cover events in his country objectively

Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov said that the Russian embassy hopes that the US media will objectively cover events in Russia and its initiatives in the international arena.

Speaking on Friday at a reception marking Russian Press Day, the ambassador said: “We trust the American media to objectively report on the domestic political processes taking place in Russia and our initiatives in the international arena. I would like to express my belief that your contribution to the normalization of Russian-American relations can be very important.”

The ambassador congratulated Russian journalists on their Career Day.

“You are doing the job you love honestly and selflessly and to which you have decided to devote your life. News from the US capital is always at the forefront of domestic news. We know that many foreign news agencies welcome them,” said the ambassador.

He noted that journalism is “a privilege and a daily painstaking job” and that the fate of countries, strategic stability and the well-being of millions of citizens depend on the accuracy of journalistic reporting.

“Despite all the negative aspects that arise in the work of the media, they believe in journalists. People listen to your words. Therefore, we call on the journalistic community to be careful and attentive to information,” Antonov said.
