OCHA interventions in Hajjah discussed

A meeting in Hajjah province on Sunday discussed the interventions of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

The meeting, which included director of the branch of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Hajjah Allan Fadhayel and humanitarian affairs officials at the UN office, Ghassan al-Ansi and Safwan al-Saghir reviewed the OCHA’s interventions in a number of sectors and its role in alleviating the suffering imposed by the continuation of the status quo.

The meeting touched on the visit program to review a number of partner projects in the province.

Fadhayel valued the OCHA’s keenness to follow up and evaluate the implemented projects and their contribution to ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to the beneficiary groups.

He pointed to the role played by the Organization of Social Workers and Psychologists in the province in supporting the OCHA activities in creating development fingerprints in the targeted districts despite the bumpy roads.

Fadhayel reviewed the human tragedy caused by the continuation of the current situation, especially on the displaced and the poorest groups as well as the exacerbation of their needs, stressing the need to expand support for the activities of partners in the province to cover the gaps of need in all sectors, give priority to projects that are raised as emergency needs and expand road, health and food security projects in the affected districts.

In turn, al-Ansi and al-Saghir valued the facilities provided by the branch of the Supreme Council to the OCHA partners in the province, stressing that Hajjah receives great attention within the plans and programs, given it a humanitarian situation as one of the most affected provinces.
