SCMCHA Secretary-General meets with Gavi’s Regional Director cooperation areas

The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation (SCMCHA Secretary-General), Ibrahim Al-Hamali, met on Saturday with the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (Gavi)’s Regional Director, Anne Cronin and the Alliance’s Senior Adviser, who are currently visiting Yemen, aspects of existing cooperation to support the health sector.

During the meeting, which was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Muhammad Al-Mansour, they discussed the roles of the Global Vaccine Alliance in supporting the health sector in Yemen by supporting the strengthening of the health sector.

They touched on ways to develop the role of the Vaccine Alliance in light of the worst humanitarian crisis in the world, which the Yemeni people are experiencing as a result of the aggression and siege, in which Yemen faces challenges as a result of the blockade that exacerbated the suffering of patients.

SCMCHA Secretary-General pointed out the importance of the possibility of supporting the Vaccine Alliance to establish a national laboratory to examine safety of vaccines, in addition to providing medicines in health facilities to find a balance between the availability of vaccines and medicines in health centers.

He called the delegation to field visits to a number of health facilities to learn about the scale of the humanitarian catastrophe and the human suffering experienced by the Yemeni people, stressing that the Supreme Council provides all facilities for humanitarian work.

In turn, Cronin praised the council’s role in facilitating the activities and projects of the organizations, explaining that the global alliance, which consists of several countries and companies, aims to deliver the vaccine to every child worldwide.
