Foreign Affairs: US support for Ukraine threatens the whole world

The US support for Ukraine would harm the United States and its allies, threaten to destroy the global economy and complicate the arms control process, Foreign Affairs magazine  said.

 An article published by the magazine stated that “the prolonged conflict in Ukraine will undermine the world economy.

 The most important trading partners and US allies in Europe will be hit hard, mainly due to rising energy prices.

 The article noted that the administration of US President Joe Biden is “taking few steps” to settle the situation in Ukraine.

 “Washington’s motto is to support Kiev as long as possible and to exclude, at least for now, practical moves toward diplomacy,” the American magazine wrote.

 The protracted conflict will hurt the United States itself, by “robbing it of military and financial resources,” and reduce America’s ability to “prioritize long-term strategic competition with China,” according to the Magazine.

 The article concludes that the US actions contribute to a “deep freeze on US-Russian relations, which could jeopardize cooperation between Washington and Moscow on issues of global importance, such as arms control.”
