3 killed, 2 injured in Chicago shootings

At least three people were killed and two others injured on Sunday when gunfire erupted at a Chicago intersection taken over by a drag-racing caravan of more than 100 cars

According to the Associated Press, Chicago Police Chief Don Jerome said during a news conference: “The dead are between the ages of 15 and 20, noting that the injured were taken to the hospital.

Jerome explained that the shooting took place in Brighton Park after the racers blocked the streets leading to an intersection to hold illegal street races.

Some 49,000 people were shot dead in the United States in 2021 compared to 45,000 in 2020, in light of the widespread of violence among American society and the inability of successive US governments to find solutions to this phenomenon.
