Safer Agreement Committee meets security coordinator at UN Representative’s Office
The Supervisory Committee for the Implementation of the Urgent Maintenance Agreement and the Comprehensive Assessment of the Safer Floating Reservoir met Thahabi Wld Sidi Mohamed, Security Coordinator at the Office of the United Nations Resident Representative-Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen, William David Gressly.
At the meeting, the Committee was surprised at the delayed commencement of the operation to replace the floating reservoir in accordance with the memorandum of understanding, especially after the United Nations has completed the project’s fundraising.
The Committee called on the United Nations side to expedite the delivery of the operational plan and move forward with the implementation of the solution.
For his part, Thahabi confirmed that the delay was due to some of the problems encountered by the United Nations during the past period.
At the same time, he commended the positive role of the Government of National Rescue and the supervisory committee for the implementation of the urgent maintenance agreement to prevent environmental catastrophe in the Red Sea.
The two sides confirmed that the process of replacing the reservoir would be carried out from a single stage, in accordance with the contents of the memorandum of understanding signed on March5.
