Experts: Europe cannot bear next winter without Russian gas
Europe cannot bear next winter and the whole of 2023 without Russian gas, experts in a recent study said.
The study, prepared by experts, explained that “the declared ambition to reduce Europe’s dependence on gas from Russia in 2022-2023 is impossible without stopping production.”
They pointed out that despite the news about the fullness of European reservoirs, Europe is unable to overcome dependence on Russian gas.
At the same time, in order to meet the demand for blue fuels until the end of 2022, the countries of this part of the world will need to maintain gas supplies from Russia or reduce its consumption by 7-12 billion cubic meters, which is only possible with the complete or partial closure of many production sectors, they added.
The study confirmed that the EU has so far already stopped 70% of nitrogen fertilizer production capacity, aluminum production has been reduced by 25%, and steel production has been reduced by 5%.
