Human rights acting minister meets OHCHR representative
Acting Minister of Human Rights Ali al-Dailami has discussed with representative of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Safir al-Din Sayed a number of issues related to human rights and aspects of cooperation between the Human Rights Ministry and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in this aspect.
The meeting reviewed the draft training program for members of the Technical Human Rights Committee, which will be funded by the Commissioner that aims to strengthen the capacity of the members of the Commissioner in international human rights law, international human rights protection mechanisms, Yemen’s position on it, and the ministry’s strategic plan.
Al-Dailamithe stressed the importance of the ministry’s strategic plan, which aims to achieve a qualitative leap with regard to various human rights issues and their protection.
He touched on a number of issues and topics related to the aggression coalition’s violations against the Yemeni people since the beginning of the aggression, stressing the need for the United Nations and its affiliated organizations to adopt a flexible approach and to deal with positive language in all tracks to serve the objectives of its humanitarian work in Yemen for which it came in light of the country that has been subjected by brutal US-Saudi-Emirati aggression since 2015 until today.
Al-Dailami deplored the silence of the United Nations and its statements that do not follow the truth regarding what is happening to the Yemeni people in the occupied provinces by the aggression mercenaries.
He called on the OHCHR to assume its basic responsibilities and play its role in alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people as a result of the aggression and the siege.
He stressed that the declared humanitarian truce is witnessing continuous violations by the aggression coalition, which has not fulfilled its obligations, including the delivery of salaries, the opening of Sana’a International Airport and the port of Hodeida, the opening of roads that are still closed by the aggression mercenaries in the occupied provinces and facilitating the movement of citizens between the provinces.
For his part, Sayed confirmed that the OHCHR has and will continue to play its role in alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people, monitoring and documenting violations and crimes them, and submitting violations in a report to the United Nations.
