Human Rights Office Condemns Saudi-mercenaries’ Crime in Taiz, Calls for Serious, Independent Investigation
Human Rights Office in Taiz Governorate condemned the crime of Saudi-mercenaries that took place on Saturday evening in Al-Rawda neighborhood in Taiz city, as a result of which civilians were killed, including children.
The office considered the occurrence of this crime, in conjunction with the ongoing UN-sponsored truce and during the presence of the deputy head of the UN mission, as a cheap investment and trafficking in innocent blood to achieve gains not equal to a drop of the blood of an innocent child.
It stressed the need to investigate in a serious and professional manner instead of the charges sent without investigations by impartial committees.
The Human Rights Office in Taiz called on all international and local organizations concerned with human rights to assume their humanitarian responsibilities and monitor and document these recurring crimes in order to reduce them and prosecute their perpetrators until the hands of justice reach them.
Since the entry into effect of the UN truce on the second of last April, dozens of civilians have been killed and injured in Taiz by the fires of the Saudi-mercenaries.
Taiz governorate has been suffering from a suffocating military siege for seven years, amid the intransigence of the forces of aggression to open roads, despite the unilateral initiatives made by Sana’a.
In early June, the National Salvation Government announced the implementation of a unilateral initiative, to raise the earthen barriers in preparation for the opening of a road inside the city of Taiz.
Negotiations of opening roads in Jordan are without outcomes after a 2-round discussion. The National Committee says that the talks do not go beyond limited roads in Taiz.
The Saudi-backed party does not have a decision to talk about the rest of the roads and closed outlets, which is a short conception of comprehensive solutions that include closed outlets in more than one governorate, including Al-Dhalae and Marib.
President Mahdi Al-Mashat affirmed that if the military negotiating committee in Jordan does not see new signs regarding closed roads to alleviate suffering of Yemeni people, the committee will announce a unilateral initiative.
He added that the US-Saudi aggression is sparing no effort to exploit the suffering of the citizens in Taiz governorate, explaining that there is a varying agenda of the Saudi-backed government that uses the suffering and difficult conditions in Taiz and the various governorates.
The Chairman of National Military Committee Yahya Abdullah Al-Razami has called on the representatives of the United Nations to go with the Committee to Taiz Governorate and examine the reality to prove the seriousness of the National side to know the party obstructing the opening of humanitarian outlets.
He reiterated the National side’s keenness to alleviate the suffering of the people of Taiz and all the people of the country, and affirm that the ball is in the court of the Saudi-backed side.
Razami considered that the Saudi-backed side must realize the humanitarian responsibility towards the Yemeni people, who are still suffering from an unjust and brutal siege and aggression.
He has confirmed that the Saudi-backed government is trying to make the issue of roads a subject for political and propaganda exploitation and rejects practical initiatives that would contribute to alleviating the suffering of citizens in Taiz and the other governorates.
