21 killed due to floods in in southern Iran

Flash floods in Rodbal River, Estahban County, southern Iran, have so far killed 21 people and left two others missing, said the head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society Mehdi Valipour.

“Heavy rains in the city of Estahban, on the outskirts of Sultan Shahbaz, led to the flooding of the Rodbal River, killing 21 people and missing two people, ” Mehdi Valipour told IRNA News Agency.

He added that 30 search, rescue, reconnaissance and air teams have been sent to the area.

Heavy rains late Friday in the town of Estahban, on the outskirts of the Sultan Shahbaz region, caused flooding of the Rodbal River and torrential rains.

The city of Estahban is 174 kilometres (174 miles) east of Shiraz, the center of Iran’s southern province of Fars.
