Ministry of Culture condemns aggression targeting of Al-Qattaba archaeological mosque in Khokha district
The Ministry of Culture condemned on Friday the targeting of the US-Saudi-UAE aggression, Al-Qattaba Archaeological Mosque in al-Khokha province in Hodeida, which dates back to the Ayobe era.
The Ministry stated in a statement received today by SABA that the hostile forces and their mercenaries, with the support of the takfiri forces and with the mercenaries of the aggression in the district of Khokha, had recently caused destructive damage to the mosque’s roof and also targeted the core part of its rear, as a first stage in order to replace it and construct a new construction on its site.
The statement deplored all the flimsy arguments and false claims made by those forces that the mosque’s direction was inclined and unsound after centuries of successive worship and prayers were performed by generations and generations of different ages, decades of modern times alike.
He pointed to this aggressive act, which is a continuation of the episodes of the series of deliberate targeting by the forces aggression for archaeological sites and historical monuments of civilization for our Yemeni people.
The Ministry of Culture appealed to the international community and all international organizations, notably UNESCO’s Global Cultural Affairs, to urgently intervene to stop these ugly and flagrant acts.
