Al Hamly meets Swiss Development Agency representatives

 Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation Ibrahim al-Hamly met on Tuesday with Coordinator of the Yemen Programme at the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation Simon Aldrisi, Officer of the Programme Shental Newiler and Martin Vann, an international expert at the Agency.

During the meeting attended by the Heads of International Cooperation Services, Ali Al-Kuhlani, and Planning, Faisal Mudhish, mechanisms for joint cooperation and coordination in humanitarian aspects were discussed and work towards alleviating the human suffering of the Yemeni people.

At the meeting, the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council stressed that the Council was keen to provide all necessary facilities to humanitarian partners. Noting the importance of the Agency’s representatives visiting Yemen to evaluate the projects implemented and address the problems and avoid any future imbalances and gaps, thereby contributing to alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people as a result of the aggression and blockade.

 The Council is keen to find humanitarian projects of a developmental nature that contribute to meeting the needs of affected and displaced families according to a mechanism of action that serves humanitarian work. The low level of funding has exacerbated the humanitarian situation.

Al Hamly explained that the Council was working to consolidate channels among humanitarian partners and strengthen coordination between organizations and official entities to implement projects that meet humanitarian needs.

Millions of Yemenis need humanitarian assistance at various levels and in multiple areas. This requires the support of those affected and most in need, and the provision of humanitarian assistance to them to reduce the descent into dangerous stages of famine.

In turn, the Coordinator of the Yemen Programme at the Swiss Agency confirmed that the visit came to see some of the projects implemented and discuss ways to develop humanitarian action and response plans.

She appreciated the role of the Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs in overcoming the difficulties of humanitarian organizations operating in Yemen.

She was keen to communicate with the Council and work on a mechanism that would contribute to the service of humanitarian action.
