FM discusses in Sanaa with donor countries humanitarian situation in Yemen
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hisham Sharaf, sent on Tuesday several letters to his counterparts in major donor countries to informon them on the humanitarian situation in Yemen.
In the latter the minister also addressed to both Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ann Linde, the Swiss Foreign Affairs Minister Ignazio Cassis, the co-chairs of the Donors Conference on the Humanitarian Situation in Yemen for 2022.
The latter discussed the humanitarian situation and the aggravating suffering of the Yemeni people in all provinces as a result of the military escalation and economic siege imposed by the Saudi-led coalition on Yemen, which have caused the worst humanitarian catastrophe.
Sharaf indicated that the projects included in the United Nations humanitarian response plans from 2016 until 2021 had suffered from repeated threats of suspension as a result of the severe shortage of funding and the failure of donors to fulfill their financial pledges announced at the annual donor conferences.
He called on donor countries to pay adequate attention to the humanitarian situation in Yemen to help mitigate the repercussions of the humanitarian catastrophe caused by the coalition states, which used various types of weapons produced by many countries supporting the countries of the coalition.
