Two killed during during anti-military protests in Sudan

At least two protesters were  killed during anti-military protests in Sudan on Thursday, AFP reported, citing international diplomats.

Security forces shot dead one protester in Omdurman and another in Khartoum, pro-democracy doctors said.

Hundreds took to the streets across Khartoum and its twin city of Omdurman, witnesses said.

United Nations and African Union envoys said that they were “very concerned about the situation” in Sudan, one of the poorest countries in the world.

The two diplomats called on civilians to unite because without it they would “leave the future of the country to the military.”

On Oct. 25, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, commander-in-chief of the Sudanese armed forces, announced the dissolution of the transitional government led by Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok, and of the Sovereignty Council, where military and civilian officials have shared power since its establishment in 2019 to oversee the transitional phase in Sudan.
