Spokesman Condemns US-Saudi Threats of Targeting Government Buildings
The spokesman for the Government of National Salvation, Minister of Information denied the allegations of the US-Saudi aggression of using state institutions in the capital, Sana’a, for military purposes.
Minister Dhaifullah Al-Shami confirmed, to Saba News Agency, that the allegations of the aggression are unfounded, but come within the framework of justification and preparation for its systematic targeting and destruction of service and vital facilities related to the lives of citizens, with the aim of doubling the suffering of the Yemeni people.
Al-Shami condemned the international silence towards the US-Saudi-Emirati threats to target civilian facilities and institutions. In addition, the government spokesperson condemned the targeting of the main building of the Yemeni International Telecommunication Company “TeleYemen”, which led to the interruption of international telecommunication services.
Minister Al-Shami pointed out that the aggression’s destruction of the telecommunications sector aims to obscure its crimes against civilians, isolate the Yemeni people from the world and deprive them of telecommunications and Internet services guaranteed under international humanitarian law.
The spokesman stressed that the telecommunications sector provides its services to citizens in various governorates of Yemen with all professionalism and impartiality and has nothing to do with any military activities, as the aggression coalition claims.
He pointed out that the warplanes repeatedly targeted civilian sectors, especially telecommunications, in contravention of all international and humanitarian laws and norms.
The US-Saudi-Emirati aggression launched two raids on early Monday targeting the building of the Yemeni telecommunications building, which led to its complete destruction. The raids also caused severe damage to the building adjacent to the targeted building.
On January 21, US-Saudi airstrikes targeted the Telecommunications Office in Hodeidah with several raids, which led to the interruption of internet and international communications in Yemen for several days. Then it was restored with local efforts.
The US-Saudi aggression threatened to target the headquarters of the Yemeni government in a continuation of the recent wave of escalation that mainly affected Yemeni cities and left, according to the Yemeni Ministry of Health, about 500 civilians martyred and wounded.
