Essential Services, Health Facilities Coming to Complete Halt Due to Suffocating Saudi Blockade

Spokesman for the Yemeni Petroleum Company confirmed, on Thursday, that all service, especially the health sector, are coming to a complete stop as a result of the acute shortage of fuel.

In a call on Almasirah channel, Issam Al-Mutawakel said, “When we meet the United Nations officials, they do not give us an explicit answer about the reason for the piracy of fuel tankers, despite obtaining UN permits.” He added, “UN must stand neutral with regard to the humanitarian situation that all the people suffer from, and not stand with the executioner against the victim.”

He continued, “When the United Nations moves and talks about the tragic situation in Yemen, the purpose is to blackmail donor countries for money.” Yemen Petroleum Company announced that the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression is still detaining nine fuel tankers, including a gas vessel. The company confirmed in a statement, last week, that the aggression continues to detain eight fuel tankers containing 198,655 tons of gasoline and diesel for about five months.

The company indicated that all the tankers went through UNVIM procedures in Djibouti, and obtained United Nations permits.
