5 killed, 124 injured in celebratory gunfire in Sana’a, provinces
At least five people were killed and 124 others were wounded, in a preliminary toll, as a result of celebratory gunfire on Monday in the capital Sana’a and provinces after the national junior football team won the West Asian Championship Cup.
The Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Taha Al-Mutawakkil, explained that many of the falling-bullet injuries are entered into intensive care and need surgical intervention.
“While we congratulate the Yemeni people for this victory, which brought joy to the hearts of its sons in light of the aggression and siege, we express regret for the injuries or deaths that occurred as a result of these uncalculated actions of those who do not realize the consequences of that,” he said.
He called on citizens to abide by the directives of the Leader of the Revolution, Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din Al-Houthi, who directed positive interaction with events, and not to shoot, as happened yesterday.
