Powerful earthquake strikes South Khorasan Province in eastern Iran
A powerful earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale struck early Sunday on the outskirts of the city of Iranshahr in Iran’s southeastern Khorasan province.
The earthquake hit early morning on Sunday, November 28th, 2021, at 4:38 am local time at a shallow depth of 10 km.
According to the Seismological Center of the Geophysical Foundation of Tehran University, the earthquake occurred 39 km from the city of Iranshahr, 55 km from the city of Seh Qaleh, and 58 km from the City of Qaen.
According to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center, the quake occurred at a depth of 2 kilometers.
There were no reports of material or human casualties .
“We have not received any reports of damage from the earthquake,” said Abu al-Hassan Mirglili, director general of the crisis department in the southern province of Khorasan.”Four assessment teams have been sent to study the situation in the region as a result of this earthquake.”
