International Organizations Reveal UAE Violations of Human Rights
International organizations highlighted the UAE’s human rights violations and detention of opinion activists, in parallel to the 2021 Dubai Expo. Human rights groups organize advocacy campaigns to demand freedom for Emirati human rights defenders, and for justice for women who have been subjected to abuse in prison or by the Emirati authorities.
Over 80 human rights NGOs signed a letter calling on the UAE to release human rights defenders. This joint NGO message was delivered to the UAE Mission to the UN in Geneva by Gulf Center for and the International Service for Human Rights.
The NGO message will be delivered to the UAE Embassy in London, UK, Amnesty International, the International Campaign for Freedom in the Emirates, the Gulf Center for Human Rights, ALQST and Caitlin May McNamara.
McNamara was assaulted by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Commissioner-General of the Dubai Expo, when she went to talk to him about helping Mansour, or to hand him some books during the Hay Festival, which she helped organize.
