Agriculture, FAO discuss mechanism for implementing priority agricultural projects
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Radwan al-Rubai discussed on Tuesday with representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Dr. Hussein Jadin cooperation to implement priority agricultural projects to enhance the role of the agricultural sector in food security.
The meeting touched on the coordination mechanism between the Ministry and FAO to implement future agricultural projects.
Reports were reviewed on the needs of the General Authority for the Development of Tehama within the framework of the programs and activities of the project to enhance steadfastness in the Yemeni countryside, and the possibility of contributing to supporting the infrastructure of the authority to enable it to perform its role in serving agricultural development.
The Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation stressed the importance of finding development projects that meet the actual needs of the agricultural sector.
He pointed out the importance of opening new horizons of cooperation between the ministry and FAO according to a clear and transparent mechanism to serve the agricultural sector and sources of food security and contribute to providing sources of income for agricultural families to alleviate their suffering as a result of the difficult conditions resulting from the aggression and the siege.
For his part, the FAO representative in Yemen expressed readiness to cooperate and coordinate with the ministry to ensure the implementation of priority agricultural projects in accordance with the agreement signed between the two sides, as well as coordination with donors to double support for projects that serve agricultural development in Yemen.
