Teachers’ union calls for international probe into assassination of 16 educators in Aden
The teachers’ union confirmed that 16 educators were killed in assassinations in Aden, southern Yemen, in 2016-2018.
Yahya Al-Yinaei, media official of the Yemeni Teachers’ Union in Aden, called for impartial and transparent investigations into these assassinations in order to the identify those responsible for these crime
Al-Yinaei said some teachers were killed in front of their schools, some in public streets near security checkpoints and others in front of mosques.
He stressed the importance of an international investigation and prosecution of those involved in the murder of the teachers
The official noted that impunity encouraged more assassinations and more violations.
He called on the international community to investigate serious violations committed by all parties, to verify the facts and identify those responsible for these serious violations in order to ensure that they will be held accountable.
