Mass Protest of Health Sector in Hodeidah Condemning Detention of Fuel Ships

Health sector in Hodeidah governorate organized a mass protest on Saturday in front of the United Nations office to denounce maritime piracy and the coalition of aggression ongoing detaining of fuel ships despite obtaining the required permits from the United Nations.

The participants in the protest raised banners condemning the ongoing blockade and preventing the entry of fuel ships, which threatens to stop work in the health sector and an imminent humanitarian disaster in the governorate.

The protesters pointed to the catastrophic repercussions on the health sector as a result of the fuel shortage, which the countries of aggression are responsible for, noting that these arbitrary actions reveal the intentions of these countries to subjugate the Yemeni people.

They held the international community and human rights organizations responsible for all the humanitarian consequences resulting from denying entry to fuel ships.

During the protest, Acting Governor Mohammad Ayyash Qahim indicated that the continued detention of fuel ships heralds a humanitarian catastrophe in Yemen.

For his part, the head of Al-Thawra Hospital Authority, Dr. Khaled Ahmed Suhail, warned against stopping the services of the Al-Thawra General Hospital Authority, hospitals and health centers in the governorate in general due to the lack of fuel.

The forces of the US-Saudi aggression continue to detain fuel tankers, preventing them from entering Hodeidah port, despite the completion of all inspection and auditing procedures through the mechanism of the verification and inspection mission in Djibouti (UNVIM).

Yemen Petroleum Company (YPC) has repeatedly called on the international community, the United Nations and humanitarian organizations to do their duty to release the detained fuel ships, in order to avoid an impending humanitarian catastrophe, to no avail.
