YPC: US Leads Piracy on Fuel Ships in Yemen

Yemen: Yemen Petroleum Company (YPC), various sectors, state service institutions and all unions held a protest on Tuesday in front of the United Nations building in the capital, Sana’a, after passing two years of calls to lift the blockade and enter fuel ships.

The joint statement of the protest called for the entry of all fuel ships without delay in accordance with international agreements and United Nations laws.

“Fuel should not be involved in conflicts and should not be used to achieve political or military goals,” the statement added.

The statement stressed that the United Nations should choose either to activate the work of the Verification and Inspection Mechanism in Djibouti (UNVIM) and impose it on everyone or cancel it. It also held the coalition of aggression and the United Nations all the consequences of this unjust blockade on the Yemenis, especially preventing fuel ships from entering.

For his part, the director of Yemen Petroleum Company Ammar Al-Adhrai affirmed that the US is leading the pirates and has shackled the Yemeni people for more than two years.

He explained in a speech during the protest that there are fines exceeding $150 million incurred by the Yemeni people.

“The brutal blockade on Yemen is under a clear and blatant cover by the United Nations and backed by the US to punish the Yemeni people,” he added.

Al-Adhrai held the forces of the US-Saudi aggression and the United Nations responsible for what the situation in Yemen will turn out as a result of the depletion of fuel quantities.
