UN Failed in Yemen, its Role Declines Year to Year

The head of the International Cooperation Department at the Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs, Mane’e Al-Asal, confirmed, Sunday, that the performance of the United Nations and its organizations in Yemen is declining from year to year.

Al-Asal told Almasirah, “Since the beginning of the US-Saudi aggression, the United Nations has not defined the aggressor, but rather has bleached the assailant’s yard through donor conferences.”

He pointed out that the responsibility of the United Nations is to put an end to the continuation of the siege on the Yemeni People and the tragedy behind it, pointing out that the United Nations talks about famine in Yemen but does not talk about who caused it nor why it continues. Al-Asal stressed that the donors do not put an end to the suffering as long as the siege on Hodeidah and Sana’a continues.

He explained that the UN organizations invoke the requirements of the donors in placing the aid while not seriously alleviating the suffering of the Yemenis. He pointed out that the humanitarian factor was nothing but a slogan for some organizations, and talking about neutrality is unrealistic because of their double standards in Yemen.
