FM meets UNFPA Executive Director

Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf met here on Sunday with Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Natalia Kanem, who is currently visiting Yemen.

During the meeting, they reviewed the humanitarian situation in the country due to the continued of the US-Saudi aggression and its repercussions on the Yemeni people, especially women and children.

The Foreign Minister said that the work of the UNFPA in Yemen over the past 20 years and through three development plans has been destroyed by the aggression in the last six years.

He stressed that Sana’a exercises the highest degree of restraint in order to facilitate the achievement of a lasting and comprehensive peace that preserves Yemen’s unity and sovereignty.

The UNFPA Executive Director noted that Yemen takes high priority on the UNFPA’s policies and programs, expressing hope to bring peace back into Yemen as soon as possible.
