FM holds press conference over inte’l peace in Yemen

Deputy Foreign Minister Hussein al-Ezzi has affirmed the Salvation Government and the national components welcome the voices calling for peace or directions seeking peace in Yemen.

The deputy foreign minister made the statement at a press conference organized by the ministry, on Wednesday, in the capital Sana’a on the international approach to peace in Yemen.

Al-Azi reiterated the Yemeni people do not want a partial peace, but a full and comprehensive peace spread throughout Yemen, adding: “We were supposed to see this international trend in dealing with issues related to peace in Yemen.”

He expressed regret over the traditional and usual method of the United Nations and the international community that produced all failed negotiation experiences during the last period.

He touched on the current developments in Marib province as it is the biggest present in the discourse of the international community and the United Nations, indicating the United Nations and the international community talk about Marib front as if it is the only front in Yemen.

Al-Ezzi added Marib front is old and it went back to the beginning of the aggression on Yemen, and it posed a threat to the security of the Yemeni citizen, whether at the level of Marib itself or Yemen in general as it is a safe haven to al-Qaeda and ISIS camps that are crowded with it, which constitute a source of danger and concern to Yemenis.

He pointed out Marib was a source of military attacks that reached the outskirts of the capital Sana’a and Bayda provinces and threatened Nehm district and Jawf province as well.

“We do not question the intentions of the United Nations and the international community in declaring peace, but the desire and intentions must be reflected in a correct manner,” he said.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed the right of defense, natural and legitimate response cannot be stopped, indicating the aggression imposed on Yemen violated all values, laws, and morals, and the Yemeni people have the right to defend and respond by all available means.

He added the United Nations and the international community have failed to find a solution to the war in Yemen because they are dealing with it as if it were a civil war, even though it is a war between the two countries – Yemen on one hand and Saudi Arabia and its allies on the other hand.

The Deputy Foreign Minister called on the United Nations and the international community to neutralize a foreigner if they want a Yemeni-Yemeni solution and dialogue so that there would be credibility.

He said the mercenaries are an imaginary party that the United Nations wants to impose, and it [ the party] does do not have a war decision or a peace decision, ”peace is established between the real and active parties in the war.

“We have not received a true vision of peace until this moment,” he added.

Al-Ezzi said the issue of ships and the port of Hodeida was settled in the Sweden agreement, indicating the UN envoy for Yemen comes to express his concern and deport it [ the concern] to future negotiations.

He said ” We criticize the UN envoy for mixing humanitarian issues with political ones and make humanitarian issues in the opponent’s hand as a tool for political blackmail,” calling for the release of oil derivative ships and the opening of Sana’a airport for humanitarian aspects.”

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed regret over the accidental incident against migrants in the capital Sana’a detention center, which resulted in the death of 44 people and the wounding of 193 others, the majority of whom left hospitals.

An investigation is underway into the causes of the accident, he said.

He added the concerned authorities had carried out their duty towards the incident according to the available capabilities.
