Two Earthquakes Strike New Caledonia’s Loyalty Islands

Two strong earthquakes struck on Wednesday night, south-east of New Caledonia’s Loyalty Islands .

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the first quake occurred southeast of the Loyalty Islands, measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale.

According to the US Geological Survey, the quake occurred at 21:24:05 GMT.

The American Authority noted the epicenter was determined at a depth of 10 km, initially at a latitude of 23.3 degrees south and a longitude of 171.5 degrees east.

According to the US Geological Survey, the second earthquake occurred southeast of the Loyalty Islands, measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale and occurred at 00:14:47 GMT.

According to the American Authority, the earthquake, its position was determined at a depth of 10 km, initially at a latitude of 23,218 degrees South and a longitude of 171.691 degrees east.

New Caledonia is a private gathering of France located in Oceania in the south-west Pacific Ocean, 1,210 km east of Australia and 16,136 km east of French territory.
