In Response to Amnesty International, Deputy Foreign Minister Denies Issuing Decision Banning Women from Work

Deputy Foreign Minister, Hussein Al-Ezzi, denied that any official decision had been issued banning women from working. In a tweet, Al-Ezzi, called for investigating the credibility and obtaining information from its sources.

He explained that in the event that individual actions take place, they represent “a weak reflection of the sediments of the Wahhabi culture, which the opponents have worked to promote over the past decades.”

In turn, Al-Ezzi stressed the government’s keenness to prevent such practices and hold the perpetrators accountable.

Amnesty International had claimed earlier that what it called Ansarullah had issued a decree preventing women from working in restaurants in the capital, Sana’a, it said.
