7 fishermen missing off al-Khokah coast

A fishing boat with at least seven Yemeni fishermen disappeared during a fishing trip off the coast of al-Khokha district, Hodeidah province, western Yemen.

Residents and community organizations in the district have launched a distress call to search for seven fishermen who lost contact with them three days ago.

They said the seven fishermen had boarded one boat off the al-Khokha coast on December 19, but had not yet returned.

“They didn’t have enough food on their boat for a day,” the families of the missing fishermen said.

Locals have expressed their fear that the fishermen might have been arrested or killed by the coalition forces that are known for harassing fishermen in Yemeni waters.
