Seminar in Germany discusses disastrous effects of closing Sanaa International Airport

The international campaign to lift the siege of Sanaa airport in cooperation with the Yemeni community in Germany organized on Saturday a seminar discussing the disastrous effects of the closure of Sana’a International Airport by Saudi-led coalition.

During the seminar, which was attended by Yemen’s ambassador to the United Nations, Um Kulthoum Baalawi, the president of the Yemeni community in Germany, Yahya Al-Sharfi, and the director of Sana’a International Airport, Khaled Al-Shayef, presented a number of working papers via video link.

The working papers examined the disastrous effects of the closure of Sana’a International Airport and official statistics resulting from the closure of the airport, as well as the illegality of its closure as a civilian facility.

They also confirmed that the closure of Sana’a International Airport was contrary to international laws that classified its closure as a war crime.

The seminar reviewed the Positive Attitude of the Germans with the movements of the Yemeni community to lift the oppression of the Yemeni people.

Participants in the seminar discussed the impact of the aggression and the closure of Sanaa airport on more than 23 million Yemenis benefiting from airport services, including the patients, wounded, and students, as well as discussing the significant lack of performance of the health system as a result of the denial of access to medicines through the airport.

They affirmed the refusal to continue the closure of Sanaa International Airport, which violates international and human rights laws.

They condemned the silence of the United Nations and international organizations towards the injustice blockade on Yemenis, considering this as a clear support for the arrogant counties on Yemen.
