Transport Minister meets ICRC official

Minister of Transport, Zakaria Al-Shami, met on Sunday the deputy head of the ICRC delegation in Yemen, Alexander Ekoy.

At the meeting, the officials discussed a mechanism of cooperation and coordination for the committee’s flights in Sanaa International Airport.

Al-Shami emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation between the ministry and the with the ICRC committee in the field of air navigation and domestic and international civil aviation.

The minister praised the role played by the ICRC in implementing the prisoner exchange agreement that took place recently through Sanaa Airport, which proved to the world the technical readiness to receive all civil, commercial and humanitarian flights.

Meanwhile, Ekoy affirmed that the ICRC’s delegation would continue to provide support to Yemen for alleviation of the humanitarian suffering experienced by the Yemeni people.
