New leukemia department at Kuwait Hospital opened

Health Minister  Dr. Taha al-Mutawakel opened on Tuesday a new leukemia department at Kuwait University Hospital in the capital Sana’a.

Martyr Abdulrahman al-Medhwahi department added to the Children’s Leukemia Unit at the hospital, funded by Baladna Foundation for Relief and Development and the Cancer Control Fund.

The department will make a quantum leap in alleviating the suffering of children with leukemia, Dr. al-Mutawakel said, calling on businessmen to support such centers in light of the ongoing aggression and blockade.

Dr. Al-Mutawakel noted that the number of children with leukemia has increased from 300 to 700 as a result of the aggression’s use of internationally banned weapons in Attan and Nuqm areas in the capital Sana’a. In addition, 1,000 children were injured in the rest of the provinces.

The minister held the aggression countries responsible for the death of the patient children for preventing the entry of their medicines.

He called on international organizations, especially the world health organization (WHO) to do their duty to provide the most important medical needs for the patient cancers.
