WHO reports high number of Covid-19 infections in European countries

The World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed that it has recorded increases in the new Coronavirus (COVID-19) daily infection index in 80% of Europe.

“We see an increase in COVID-19 infections in 80% of Europe and there are 37 regions in 13 countries where we are monitoring the situation,” said Maria van Kerkhove, the World Health Organization’s’ s technical lead, at a press conference on Friday.

A group of European countries recently recorded record increases in the index of daily Covid-19 infections, particularly France, Britain, Italy, Spain and the Czech Republic, although the mortality rate from the pandemic is much lower than during the peak outbreak last spring.

The World Health Organization (WHO) considered, however, that there were multiple indications that there was no second wave of the Coronavirus pandemic.
