PM meets new head of ICRC delegation to Yemen
Prime Minister Dr. Abdulaziz Saleh bin Habtoor met on Tuesday in Sanaa with the newly-appointed head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation to Yemen Katharina Ritz.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister welcomed the new head of the ICRC delegation, wishing her success in performing her duties to enhance the positive humanitarian roles of the ICRC delegation towards the Yemeni people.
Dr. bin Habtoor reviewed the size of the growing needs of the Yemeni people in humanitarian aspects as a result of years of aggressive war and siege imposed on the country.
He expressed his appreciation for the humanitarian effort of Franz Rauchenstein, the ICRC’s former head of delegation during his tenure in Yemen.
The meeting deal with the important activities of the ICRC in the context of the humanitarian effort exerted for decades in Yemen, which have doubled in the current period, as well as work plans for the next year.
At the meeting, head of the ICRC delegation confirmed that she would do her utmost to continue the humanitarian activities of the ICRC delegation in the targeted areas, in addition to the task regarding the prisoner exchange agreement.
