UN Requests Extra Time To Study Sanaa’s Observations On Safer Ship

The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS)’s team on Friday requested addition time to study the technical observations that it discussed in Sanaa with the national advisory team regarding the floating oil tank “Safer ship”, according to Yemen Press Agency.

This came during the UNOPS team’s meeting with Head of the Supreme Economic Committee Hashim Ismail, Minister of Oil and Minerals Ahmed Daress and the national advisory team.

In the meeting, Ismail stressed the need to expedite the completion of an urgent maintenance agreement and a comprehensive evaluation of the ship “Safer” in order to prevent any deterioration of the ship due to late maintenance.

He pointed out that the Foreign Ministry of the National Salvation Government had provided all facilities and entry visas to the UN experts team.

In the same context, the Oil Minster called for taking practical steps to avoid the deteriorating condition of the ship, as a result of the delay in maintenance, considering the repeated discussion of what has already agreed upon a waste of time.

The UNOPS team confirmed that the United Nations readiness to fully cooperate for the maintenance of the floating tank Safer, as agreed upon.
